Circulation Policies
Books are to be checked out and use of the photocopier and computers is to be completed not later than 15 minutes before closing.
Books from the Main and the New Testament Seminar Collections circulate for three weeks and are renewable for one time only. They may be renewed in person, by telephone, or by accessing your online patron account. You can find instructions to access your patron account on the Library’s homepage.
Reference books and periodicals do not circulate and are to be used on the Library’s first floor.
Materials in the Restoration Movement Archives and the Rare Books Collections do not circulate and are to be used in their respective rooms except for photocopying in the Library.
Reserve materials for ESR students circulate for one hour unless a professor determines a different circulation period. Students may have up to three reserve items checked out. Reserve material may be checked out overnight during the last hour before the Library closes but must be returned by 8:30 the next morning. Reserve materials are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must remain in the Library unless the criteria for overnight checkout are met.
Patrons are automatically notified by email the day an item becomes overdue. The first email is a courtesy notice and carries a two day grace period without a fine. If the patron takes no action within those two days, overdue fines will be calculated beginning with the day the item became overdue. The overdue fine for books is 25 cents per day for each overdue book. Media Center material carries different fine amounts from 25 cents to $1.
Fines must be paid in the Library during business hours and are due when the overdue items are returned. When fines total $5, the patron account is automatically blocked until the fine is paid.
ESR students will not be permitted to register for classes if they have unpaid library fines or overdue books.
Report lost or damaged books to the Circulation Assistant. Any overdue fine will be stopped, but any accumulated fine is expected to be paid.
The replacement cost of LOST OR DAMAGED materials is determined by the sum of two figures:
Actual cost of materials, i.e., the market price as it appears in Books-In-Print (or a similar publication) or, in the case of material that is out of print, the cost computed at the rate of ten cents per page; binding fee (if applicable); AND
A processing fee of $25.00 per volume.
